Education/Training: Mitch received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oklahoma Christian University in 2007, and his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University in 2014. He also completed a year-long course of Foundations of Psychoanalytic Thought through the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies.
Philosophy: Mitch recognizes the difficulty that many face in starting their own counseling, or even transferring to a different counselor. He believes that everyone can benefit from a therapeutic relationship, and strives to foster a working alliance that will nurture the self, and help to ease the pressures brought on by feelings such as depression, anxiety, and despair. Mitch primarily sees individuals, but also welcomes couples and families. He believes in an approach that incorporates the entire being; not only mental, but physical and spiritual health as well. The person is complex, and the process of exploring what moves us can be a valuable and enlightening journey.
Professional Experience: Mitch has worked in the field of mental health since 2006, starting with inpatient behavioral care of children and adolescents, home-based case management for children and adolescents, and finally adult rehabilitative day treatment with Red Rock BHS. He currently sees clients at The Grove, and provides in-home services through Access to Counseling for those with Medicaid insurance.
Professional Memberships: Mitch is a member of the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (OSPS), and the American Counseling Association (ACA).
